Giving to SMU presents SMU alumni, students, faculty, leaders, and friends the chance to lean into our values in direct, meaningful ways. Join us in transforming healthcare, communities, and lives through gratitude and giving to our students and University.

Our priority is to provide support to address the immediate needs of our students. From merit and need-based scholarships to food pantries, and emergency funds, explore how you can support students today.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes, donations made to SMU are tax-deductible. SMU is tax exempt under Section 501 (c)(3) of the IRS Code, tax ID #94-2992642.

When will I receive a tax receipt for my donation?

Immediately after your gift is processed, you will receive an emailed tax receipt. Contact us at our email if you do not receive your receipt.

How can I request custom handling or designation of my donation?

Please contact our University Advancement team by email or phone 510-907-2500 for special donation handling support.

Can I make my donation using a check?
