Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes, donations made to SMU are tax-deductible. SMU is tax exempt under Section 501 (c)(3) of the IRS Code, tax ID #94-2992642.

When will I receive a tax receipt for my donation?

Immediately after your gift is processed, you will receive an emailed tax receipt. Contact us at our email if you do not receive your receipt.

How can I request custom handling or designation of my donation?

Please contact our University Advancement team by email or phone 510-907-2500 for special donation handling support.

Can I make my donation using a check?

What other ways can I give to SMU?

You can give directly online, send in a check, or give through a donor-advised fund. Some donors appreciate giving strategies that may offer tax benefits, such as IRA charitable rollovers, charitable gifts annuities, and other planned gift models.
